It’s been a while since we last posted and you can probably guess the reason why…there’s no prize. Yes, we’ve been busy, not just procrastinating but ‘REALLY’ busy.

Two brands are to blame, one in need of a ‘spoof’ and the other, an i-phone game. Pants bulging times ahead *note to self “must buy pants”

This weekend was the 48 Hour Cannes Young Lions competition via youtube. The brief was released Friday midnight, with the deadline just around the corner. Unfortunately our plans didn’t go to plan, Rob ended up in Brighton and I ended up looking at houses with the other half. You can see who had the better weekend.

The day of rest came and off to work we went our first look at the brief and with less than 10 hours to come up with diamond. We had several thoughts, but due to the time restrictions we had to go with a quick achievable idea.

We really wanted to bring Captain Planet back out of retirement, but for legal and money issues, he didn't want to play game.

Another year rolls by and some will be grinning, where others shall be weeping. We are glad to be back in the office. There are some interesting briefs floating our way and a few other bits and bobs we did in 2008 will be going live soon. Therefore, overall, we are smiling.

Time to breathe...

Rest your eyes and close them slowly, as you would after a voracious tug on the old chap. Now imagine the busiest day that you have experienced recently. Starting off in the morning, running for that tube only to be joined with 30 other people. Some fat, some smelling rather delicate. You then get to work and everything seems to flying by in fast forward mode. No lunch, just snacking (food that is bad for you) at any available time. What would be your soundtrack to represent the current week you are having? The following is ours.

It's been a rather hectic time for us, but it's all rather jolly in the camp. Scamping, building, smashing, script writing, walking, taking photos, making videos, playing obscure music and on and on the list could go. Just some description of what we have been achieving behind closed doors.

We posted a while ago that we had good news to share. We are now officially off the dole and employed. The first obstacle has been cleared but many more await us in our journey through hell (in a good way).

I've only tested a jpeg but it would be interesting to see what it does with a swif file. We uploaded our very own pal, Ian Fooks to give him a well-dissevered, composed annihilation.

We know it is late but everyone loves fireworks. Especially when getting up to some mischievous play. We are all adults but its always good to switch off, every so often. Keep that mind, body and soul young forever.

So there's the fun part. The next couple of clips feature us trying to get to Clapham Common to see the fireworks. We arrived as people were leaving. Great. The pub became the new destination, along with some deep fried chicken. All was good until the morning after on the loo. Stick to KFC and nothing else.

Afternoon people. Firstly we would just like to say congratulations to John Mc'cain for not winning the US election. Let's be honest, it's possibly the worst job in the world and you just don't need the hassle. No matter how much control or money you may get. Ghost Bikes

Ghost bikes? Sounds like another crappy supernatural movie/TV show. Nope, this is Art. Bikes that are sprayed completely white have been appearing all over the world, some locked to railings, others to trees. These bikes have been placed as a memorial to bikers who have lost their lives whilst on two wheels. From far away, they look like another abandoned bike. However, up-close you will see a little write up explaining who the victim of the accident was. A few people take note and add flowers, but it would be interesting to see how the public/drivers react to these.

Would they stand out? Alternatively, would they be ignored?

A fine mess in the end let us see how far this idea goes.

After weeks of speculation and chasing the clues online, it all became clear what the code above was all about. Some people mentioned the link to Xbox or ps3 game, and then others for the V&A. The latter thought was correct. The Cold War Museum is now exhibiting. It all started of as a mad rush, leaving the hospital at Tooting Broadway at 6pm, wondering if I would turn up to a huge crowd of people donning their disguises, or just a couple of people looking like kiddie fiddlers. I joined somewhere in the middle. People dressed up, who all looked dodgy, to say the least. Yes, even the women. After bumping in to a couple of friends people started to grow tired, wondering if it was all a hoax. However, 18.45 sharp a man with a Mac and bowler hat arrived.Off we went through the streets of Kensington and then a short walk through the underground, which all ended surprisingly at the V&A.

There was a strange feeling about being in the V&A when closed. The temptation to recreate the Thomas Crown Affair was running around my mind. With a couple beers down the hatch and some strange flat peanut/crisp kind of snack (you had to be there), we ventured on forward to browse through the Cold War. The exhibition was visually on the ball and nothing seemed dated. There was a couple of downfalls. Firstly, there was a lot to digest in the way of reading the placards and secondly. The atmosphere was ok at times, although the sounds should have been stronger and prominant in certain areas.

The overall thought of seeding online was good. Using blogs is a great way to get build hype but it would be interesting to see how many people they would have wanted to come. On the night there was around 20-25 people, which was ok. Imagine if 500 people arrived. All this effort for an exhibition? Is it worth it? Answers through comments please.

Since getting our 9-month placement at Dare Digital, the one thing we said we would do is not become complacent with ourselves and keep working on our book. A few bystanders kept asking us, “Why bother, when you have just landed a spot on Dareschool”

These comments are the sort that spurs us on to move forward and not settle down too early. Work has been hectic moving from brand to brand keeping us on our toes, learning the different tone of voices and noticing certain clients are more daring than the others are. With only 24 hours in a day, finding time to work on our book together has been hard. We just go off and work on the book ourselves and then when we get a few minutes on the train, during lunch or even whilst in the toilet we discuss our thoughts.

We have not posted any work up before, no particular reason. A complete new book is what we are aiming for over the coming month, and we have a list of strategies that we felt like sharing. Please feel free to leave your ‘constructive’ feedback so we can take these further.

The day finally arrived, September 8. The end of an era, 3 years of education completed. The night before the house was running around making sure our smart clothes fitted, and ironed to perfection. The day was good, meeting old people and treated like a king by your parents. But who is the day really for? You or your parents? Personally, I feel it is for the parents. They have supported us all for 3 years solid, and it does not stop there. Some people may walk straight in to a £20-£25K a year job, which is a nice place to start, however we did not.

So, having graduated, does that mean we no longer rely on them? Well, nope. Having no other option but to move straight in to London the time came again where I paid a visit to the bank of mummy & daddy. I could have taken a graduated loan, but in times of now, it’s not the greatest idea.

The process of moving in to London straight after University is expensive. You have to pay 6 weeks rent deposit. Pay a month up front and then the legal fees. Wait, there is more. You then have to pay council tax, bills, travel and so on. Before the comments fly in (ok, we may get 1) “Welcome to the real world” etc… I am fully aware what the ‘real’ world is. It is just a sudden shift through life.

On the Brightside, we are currently serving a 9-month placement (Dareschool) which has 2 months left. Just like the film Old Boy, we have been tattooing the months on our arms* waiting for 11th November. Here we will find out if our careers kick off, or whether we have to move on and enter the world of placements again. Only Dare will tell.

My wallet was stolen. Shit piss...in hindsight that really could have dampened the proceedings. Some woman handed it in claiming it somehow walked into her back and was packed away, obviously minus the 10 euros which didn't upset me too much. Finding it again was euphoric...making several friends whilst in a state of trauma.

Booked the flight the night before I departed, nothing planned so that this would allow spontaneous things to happen right? Apart from doing little research the night before to not to appear arrogant I chucked myself in at the deep end with little money in my account to fall back on. Since Dip and myself went to China we realised language make us lazy and reliant and when it is taken away you revert to instinct#!...>>

Why Spain? I'm not entirely sure for the reasoning apart from the flight being cheap and this being training in Europe before heading into the wild. People worry too much. You can get by in whatever case... (nothing terrible happens and no one dies, ha ha 'in jest') Again...this is part of a series of adventures.

Blood trail of El toro. Was pleased to see a tradition kept alive by the cheers in crowd as a beautiful animal is taunted to death. I say that but by the time the 5th one came out I myself started realising my first thoughts towards it were very shallow. It was also reassuring knowing the creature was butchered on site.

Notting Hill Carnival

This was my first year going to the Carnival and I was so excited to the point, that the butterfly's were regurgitation out of my mouth. I've heard good and bad things about this event, but as film reviews, you have to go seem it for your self to gather an opinion. The day started slowly having to wait for people and then try to meet people which is normally an easy task, however with the added extra thousands of people, it just made it un realistic. By pure luck and observation, we hooked up with the gang and it all kicked off from there. I drank lots of Red Stripe and had expensive Jerk Chicken (which was a massive let down. It was such a cultural experience and had fab ass day. I left around 8ish and fell alseep on the Bakerloo line and ended up at Stonebridge Park (I live in North Acton). I got home around 11pm and the other half (not Rob) was not happy. Defo will be there again next time.

We take part in the Olympic Games 2008. 6 floors represent 6 different teams. We were the USA. Rob, Fooks and I totally transformed our floor with the added help of other people who brought food in that could represent our nation. What a splendid day. Who said you can't mix business and pleasure.

You may be wondering what has happened to out blog of late. Alternatively, you do not give a poop. Rob has taken a well-earned rest and gone off on his break away from the creative world. I have been on my own since last Monday and it has been, let us say, a busy week.

Being in a team where we both do Art Direction and claim to be Copy Writers, this was my week to live up to the claim. Overall, it has gone well but I do miss my partner (I hope he sheds a tear when he reads this). The random banter is mainly missed but also Rob’s ability to push ideas to the level where the client (or planners) shit themselves. It is where reality meets the devil, hoping one day it can slip through without being beaten to death and turning out as a lifeless carcass of a body. We have a few posts to catch up on so I'm going to edit them down to get us back on track. Sorry for the delay. It's my fault, no one elses. Whip me if you ever meet me.

The Sony Ericsson ATL campaign keeps on popping up at the moment in the london newspapers and it is the image with the whale. It leaves us wondering how much do people read into press ads? Under recent topical issues whale poaching in China has come under a lot of fire from activists such as Greenpeace and I feel that for us it walks that line...and We're sure very naievely.

Being the controversial emotionless little bastards we are, it didn't offend us and I'm sure no one else was on the phone to the ASA but this was mearly an example for us to make a very simple point. Does anyone give a monkey's about press? We know the answer. I was observing a man on the tube this morning (stalker!)and I was waiting for his eyes to hit a macains advert top right of the page but none of it. Not even a glance...desensitised....

The Creative Tea...I mean Three

Recently we've started having creative Tea on our floor which we find very stimulating and it gives us time to digest small talk over some scones or whattever. As it is just our floor we all decided to start inviting people from other levels to fuel the banter.

This week Dip and myself decided to up the anti and invite some outsiders. Fellow comrades Sam & Goodall (concrete carrot *creative team* -plug-) We knew they would deliver and they did in abundance.

*It's the end of the day and people are still twittering about it*

Their presentation was about putting yourself outside your comfort barrier and staying confident throughout (very important). To prove their point they brought in a third member who was big issue seller named Rich who claimed to have invented spongebobsquarepants (according to him spongebob was originally triangular). Look...he signed a drawing for us.

Apparently he worked for Nickelodeon and they nicked all his ideas which he took them to court for. This bum certainly made everyone uncomfortable and you could see it in all the worried faces peering over as he spontaniously grabbed someones phone and started yelling down it!

Fucking brilliant, raw, unstaged and treading the genius/insane line.

Even though the freezing equipment is the explanation why charlie the polar bear has no where to stand! Fucking saving the Earth twaddle, blahhh. I prefered the ice cream before.

So the hottest Sunday you'd believe and we are at Clapham Common at the Ben and Jerries mass brainwash event. I call it this because their was free ice cream all day. Obviously they realised no living being can get passed 3 or 4 cones before they a)sick it back up or b)make wierd dance gestures and gyrating their heads in order to stop their brains freezing.

I managed 2.5 and was on a sugar come down for most the afternoon in the sweltering heat having to pretend to like Ash while the people infront of me where all supporting brightly coloured Ash T-Shirts (faggots).

Ok I thought this toe wrestling malarky wouldn't compare to the Mexican spectical the other night but it did -and so much more- Never have I seen two fat women play footsie before. It was special. Ha ha...the humour was in the lack of attention the dude with the mic was getting from the three people stood in the crowd. I cheered.

A hippy sell out. Does Jerry really have the same mentallity of saving the earth as he did when he was bumming out smoking reffer? Or is that convieniant for the branding at this moment in time. All aboard the green bandwagon. I had to laugh at kicking out time when the crowds started trailing across the park past some pissed tramps. One of the tramps got up half cut and made his hand into antenas on his forhead and started shouting "THE ANTS, THE ANTS ARE COMING" I giggled.

The map led us to a dark row of garages. A guy popped out from no where and asked us if we where looking for a party. Jokingly he pointed us in the wrong direction and then soon after re directed us down along these garages. It looked dodgy. The music got louder from one of them and as we went in it opened up into what looked like a world war two bunker! The layout was unusual which is a probonus and it was a good night even though the beer was pricey. It happens. The band was The Tits of Death and the mexican wrestling got pretty out of hand amoungst the crowd. Things smashing and babies crying.

Who is the 'Greatest Mistry' of them all?

Last week, another Mistry appeared at Dare. No, it was not the poo that suddenly appeared outside near the smoking area. It was Rohit Mistry. Dam, another person with the same surname as me. After the first couple of hours of hate, I learnt to accept that there would be other Mistry’s out there and started getting on with my life again. Both being keen footballers, dare fc captain Jamie Green had seen an opportunity and decided that we should play football to decide who the ‘Greatest Mistry’ of them all is. Being highly competitive, I jumped at the chance and lost.

A few reasons:

1. Totally unfit.
2. Controversial decision.
3. Too many mistakes (me making the howler of the night, no comment).

BOB - Best Of Bucks 2008

BOB had arrived at Wunderman last night and there was panic in the air "did you invite anyone?", "I hope people turn up". There was no need for panic as the event turned out to be a great fine mess. Both rooms packed with agency people scanning through all the books, and all we could do is sit and view the attention. There were two prizes to give out to the best books and the first was for a 2-week placement at Wunderman.

Well done to Dawn and Chi who won the 2-week placement at Wunderman, hope it goes well and that there is a job offer at the end. The next prize on offer, was a 2-week placement at Saatchi and Saatchi. We started betting on the team that we thought would win and we were right. This team have stuck to their guns since leaving uni and held out for placements with the big ATL agencies. Some may say it’s a risky move, as you could be waiting for a long time, but then again you need to have goals and ambition to get anywhere in life. We are talking about Paul and Jermaine. Well-done lads and best of luck to you (remember your digital friends).

A few people need thanking. Julie Wright, as always you have our best interests at heart and we are all grateful that you decided to do BOB for us. Matthew Searle, well done with the invitations, they looked the bizz. Seb the r….., love the badges. We are going to wait until Seb becomes famous and then sell them on Ebay (millionaire guaranteed). Really nice to see Pavel Fernandez who is an ex Dare Digital member, speak soon. Finally to the people who put the nuts, crisps out, and not to mention the alcohol in the buckets of ice. You are special too.

RISE - Free music festival

Sundays are normally associated with a day of rest and lounging around in your pants. However, over 100,000 people in a park thought otherwise yesterday. We are talking about the RISE free music festival in Finsbury Park. The sun was shinning, the people were friendly (and wasted, see first image) and overall it was a great day out. The sound system could have been better on the main stage and CSS were a big let down.

The big move for dare happened on Friday and the producers briefed the Oxymorons and Ian Fooks to devise a quiz for 150 people. Straight away we thought, quiz? Boring, so our minds started to walk and we produced something more fun. However, the word logistics came in to play and our original idea was toned down, which was a fair move. The day before the quiz and it was all still in our heads and nothing actually written down, you can just imagine the look on the producers! We bashed out a late one and managed to get it all done. Friday came and so did the rain (for a few minutes) so we all headed back to work for food and then made our way down to the Slug & Lettuce. The quiz went really well and everyone enjoyed it. A big shout out to everyone who made it happen. You know who you are. x

Gabriele Skelton

On Friday, the Oxymorons went to the Gabriele Skelton grad day, not 100% sure what or who to expect. We arrived and were told we will have 20 minutes with each agency, like speed dating but better. We had the pleasure of showing our book to Glue, Profero, Grand Union, Good Technology and Chemistry. Constructive criticism is what we aim to get from our crits and we certainly received it. One comment that stood out was from Glue, "Strategically the book is solid and better than some of the people who have been in the industry for longer. The executions need to be clearer but that will come in time." Our aim was to graduate with a good strategic book, and it's always nice when it gets pointed out.

The Future's Bright, the future is ...

Orange is reportedly ditching its classic "future is bright" strap line but with an 80s and 90s nostalgia revival in full flow, is this the right move? There comes a time when every brand needs a change and it is normally because the consumers are moving on. However, Orange has been consistent with their advertising and brand awareness and it is a surprise to see they are changing the line. From the other end, it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

The lecture was on 'How to start an advertising agency' and who else better to do it then John Bartle and Mark Collier. It was a truly amazing time and we have learned a lot.

Our display, where country meets city. It took a lot of time and effort to do but in the end it was worth it. We always strive to be different and we certainly achieved this on the night.

Business cards can be very boring. We decided to use the images that we have captured over the past two years that we have been together for. Through the images you can see that we have travelled and also gain an understanding of what the oxymorons are about.

Pigeon cam. We decided to add a 'Live' element to our display, so we filmed people looking at our work and showed it back in front of them on a screen. Proved to be very popular, especially when they realised where the camera was hidden.

Finally all our work is handed in, all done and dusted. This morning Rob and I dropped the package off by hand, which was lovely as the weather was good, sunny and warm. Before hand in, we decided to give the work some luck, Flo Heiss – Creative Director @ Dare Digital kissed the parcel, now we have a good excuse if we don't pull through.
